2020 Honor Society Induction

Principal's Corner

To the parents, students, and community,

Let me start off by saying how exicited I am to be the Principal at LaFayette Lanier Elementary. The staff and I plan to make this school year a very successful and enjoyable educational experience for our students. The success of our students greatly depends on a strong partnership between parents, staff, students, and the community. I firmly believe that it takes all stakeholders working together to successfully educate a child. One of the most important components of a successful education is parental support, please stay involved in the education of your child and always support and encourage your child to do his/her best and to never give up. We welcome your participation and support and look foward to meeting all of you throughout the school year. Together we can give your child the best education possible. Respectfully, Russell Newton

Honoring Our Past, To Look Towards Our Future

Originally built in 1935, LaFayette Lanier Elementary School has been a beacon light of education for over 80 years. A building that is documented on the historical register, our school has portions of the original architecture that was utilized in its first construction.

Currently, our school serves as the grades 3-5 campus for students in the Langdale and Shawmut communities in Valley, Alabama.  With a diverse population of students, our school provides opportunities for cross-cultural interaction, while keeping with a family-like feel that is essential for elementary student development.

We are a partner school with the Alabama Reading Initiative and a recipient of the Reading Is Fundamental Grant resources that facilitate additional instructional opportunities for our students.

In consistent collaboration with nearby post-secondary campuses, LaFayette Lanier is an internship site for both Auburn and Troy Universities.

Recognizing the need for students to be educated in a 21st century learning environment, our students have structured access to technology that prepares them for the digital age.

With a caring, knowledgeable and professional staff who are committed to educate the whole child, and an encouraging community that supports the overall school program, LaFayette Lanier is poised to continuously build on the rich traditions of the past and prepare the most precious resources of the future: our students.
